Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Intamin prefab please, Thorpe. Always seemingly overlooked, but they’re a stunning ride.

Plus, if Intamin are there anyway, they can take Colossus back with them.

Like when Curry’s take your old knackered washing machine away with them, when they’re delivering your new one.
Yes yes yes. Intamin prefeabs are amazing, el toro!

It would appear that Tidal Wave is going to be getting new sponsorship this year!

Completely different kettle of fish; Rotten Tomatoes have blocked people from commenting on films that weren't available for the public to see yet, presumably as the comments were just mean-spirited trolling, rather than any constructive discussion. Seems OK to me to ask people to see a film or at least wait for the reviews to roll in before gobbing off.

On the other hand, perhaps that means I have to give this Fortnite event at Thorpe Park the benefit of the doubt, too. o_O

For the record nobody was leaving bad reviews for Capt Marvel, you cannot, and never have been able to leave a review or a rating for a movie until after it has been released. The "mean spirited trolling" as you put it was people simply clicking the "not interested in viewing this movie" button, and in some cases, leaving a comment to the effect of " not interested". It was manufactured into a problem and removed because 78% were not interested in the movie, nothing more than that.

But never let the truth get in the way of a good story, as they say.

Assuming they're building similar escape rooms to the Bear Grylls Adventure: It's going to be absolutely terrible.

In fact they ballsed it up so hard that out of a good 80-100 tester guests, not one could actually solve it.

This announcement is a sign of what's to come in the next 5 years or so, confirmed by Vick Narney's latest ramblings.

Sorry, I think there has been an error here. These additions are not for the UK's second best ;) theme park, but for the local church fete. Apparently, there is a tombola to win a jar of home made jam, and upsell break the crockery stall too.

More tea Vicar?

Actually, put NV's face on the crockery and some members of this forum will pay good money...

These must be so last minute if they aren’t actually opening till May! So any guests who visit during March or April will get nothing.

I do wonder where on park it might be? Can only think maybe near the back of Rush or some behind the scenes areas maybe where mazes have previously been.

Disappointing that I’m a celeb seems to have been replaced with a paid for maze, which sounds like Bear Grylls.

I’m assuming they lost the coveted “I’m a Celeb” IP.

Thorpe seem like more of an afterthought than any other Merlin park in the UK. It’s virtually a lost cause now.

The inflatable park sounds like it could attract quite a few people (that sort of thing is certainly trendy at the moment).

Not entirely sure what Jungle Escape is, but if it's an escape room, then I can definitely see why it's an up charge, as I'd imagine escape rooms don't typically have the best throughputs.

The gaming festival sounds good for what I presume to be Thorpe's target audience, and it could tempt those into gaming to go to Thorpe.
Welcome to A Child's Birthday Party Resort.
To be fair, this might have been what they were going for, as it is Thorpe's 40th birthday this year, but I must admit this comment made me laugh!

How so? I was under the impression that Bear Grylls Adventure was supposed to be really good!

This has been their plan since the end of last year, not a last minute thing.

The inflatable course (which I believe is like a cheap Total Wipeout-esque experience) is all outdoors, and not really good during early spring when the weather is hit and miss. Hence why it's later. It is a free thing though (how that will work when there's 10k people on park is a different matter mind).

The gaming expo thing starts a week after the park opens, so no big delay there. Why the escape thing is late is anyone's guess.

As has been said, escape rooms have low throughput, so it would be crazy making that free. I don't think it should be advertised so heavily (the way they advertised Containment in its first year is how you advertise upcharge experiences like this), but I'm interested by them trying something like that, even if their form isn't great.

It's clearly a quiet year and the park don't have the backing, not ambition, to develop the park. Rather than focus on their brand or existing rides, they're just going for cheap events which they can make revenue (advertising or ticketed) from so they can say they have something new.
