Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Didn't Towers briefly have everything open (Nemesis excluded of course) for about 2 days before Hex died again?
Yeah it's not Hex; although it's been out for most of the season it did open on opening day and ran for a couple of weeks IIRC. Skyride has not opened at all this season though.

Depends if Towers class Skyride as a ride or transportation option.

Usually based on whatever claim they want to make at the time.

Chessington could also beat them if they confirm runaway train isn't coming back, though that would be something of pyrrhic victory.

It doesn't really matter whether Skyride is a ride or transportation option in this case; it is closed, which means that not everything is open.
Back to Thorpe, I am glad that everything is open.

Kind of feel that would make them the ultimate loser - having an attraction that never opened all season...

New fright nights branding anyone? I think its due a change

I ventured to the park on Friday after seeing how short wait times were all week. I was indeed lucky on Friday to have similarly short wait times and managed 26 rides on various rides - including rides I haven’t done in years like Zodiac and Depth Charge. And I had a sitdown lunch at Pizza and Pasta Buffet and a sitdown in the car to charge my phone.

Saw was rough - but I did appreciate the single rider queue. Operations were mixed - Swarm was stacking despite four operators checking restraints. Didn’t matter really given the short wait times. Bozo was fun - I was given a solo run through, which upped the scare factor. It did feel like it lacked a punchier ending though.

I gave Ghost Train a second try and was not quite as good as my first try last month mainly due to fewer actors. While I applaud the vision with this ride, Merlin are rarely able to staff staff-heavy rides in the long term. I think more use of screens, projections, effects and physical sets would be welcome.

Although one of the best visits I’ve had in recent years, it reminds me of the need of Project Exodus. The ride offering is feeling pretty stale there at the moment.

I honestly can’t understand why or how Swarm trains can stack. They always have four staff in platform doing the checks, and pre-2016, they’d frequently send a train while the other one was passing over the station. Swarm trains stacking used to be a rarity, in my last visit it seemed to be the norm.

On Saturday I thought it was on one train given the long gaps dispatching it. But no it was on two. At one point in the afternoon we went there as it’s usually quiet, board said 25. But queue was massive and so was the fastrack queue. We chose to leave and come back later, and in that time we only saw the ride go round once or twice, as it was so slow dispatching.

Can anyone explain why the mimes at carnival were dancing to music from cuphead? Not all that important I know but thought it was interesting. (Do play that game it’s great)

I definitely wouldn't mourn the loss of Angry Birds.
An Egyptian themed flat ride in the place of Slammer would be great.
Rumba Rapids is currently in a pretty bad state. I think that it needs a revamp.

It will always be Ribena Rumba Rapids to me :'(
I wish they'd do something more with the tunnel section. It always comes off as feeling empty, like something used to be there but was removed. (Rip berryheads v_v)

My opinions on angry birds aside, when was it last relevant? It’s been dated for most of its life. I hope Thorpe park starts thinking about some good investments, not these permanent scare mazes.
