Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Went to the park today for the second time of the year with a friend visiting the country, and tnd the upkeep really is just horrendous. There's not a single area, other than Swarm Island maybe, that isn't riddled with cobwebs, graffiti, worn paint, damp marks, etc. Kids areas covered in bird poo, Black Mirror Labyrinth covered in rubbish throughout the maze and thick grime on every mirror, queue for Colossus had every bin tipped over in the middle of the day... I could write a lot for every ride, but just really, really in need of a lot of investment all over.

And unrelated: I also feel like there's a good ride inside Ghost Train but
I almost feel that they should remove the train worker actors from the train and replace them with a clearer narrative voiceover from the train's announcement system. The actors' performances, at least during my two rides, have just been really hard to follow and without much interaction with the riders. If we were led to the train by the conductor and the first actors we experienced on the trains were the ghosts later in the ride, I feel that would be far more effective and feel like a better dark ride rather than odd performance art that it feels like at times now.

This is actually a great idea and would make it more immersive (they could even fit better surround sound on the trains or potentially headphones, I’m pretty sure they could even get projector mapping inside there) A-lot cheaper to run, they can utilise one of the 2 actors for the finale creature in the fake shop. This would be far more professional, that scene definitely lacks a good ending in my opinion.

Why they based this ride around “actor led” is beyond me. It’s like they never actually learn there lessons therefore the ride being removed in a few years on.

Yes, it is the cards from carnival, but it is not my image, I might add

If that x car and weird vintage looking car are part of fright nights, I’m thinking that this is going to be themed around toys as such. Basically if sid from Toy Story had a scare maze. The card is making me think. Mark my words, I’m calling it.

I knew the budget was tight, but didn't know it was small enough to warrant slave labour!

Assuming the Egyptian one relates to Exodus... could the migration relate to relocating a ride? A really, really long shot but migration is movement from one place to another?
It could relate to the displacement of the Buckwheats from Creek Freak Massacre.

Hi all I have a question regarding oversize rider's. My friend has recently had a stomach operation to help lose weight and I intend to take him to Thorpe park next year as he hasn't been able to fit in a ride for 20 years.

By spring he will hopefully be down to around 18-20 stone but I wonder what are the most and least accommodating rides for larger sizes? Is there any way to see before visiting which rides may/ may not fit him?

The ride seating restrictions are listed on the website, here. Several rides have test seats outside their queue entrance as well.

I would be wary of Colossus as a larger rider. That one has notoriously restrictive restraints, particularly if your friend is also tall.

I wouldn’t say that any of the others are too bad, but I’d always recommend a check on the website, as well as a check in the test seat on the day (most of Thorpe’s rides have test seats, if I’m remembering correctly).
