They aren’t allowed to absorb it. Like the carrier bag levy, it’s a deterrent tax and must be passed on to the end consumer.

Asda cafe’s have removed draft Coke and replaced it with Coke Zero now.
 
You can just see what's going to happen in 20+ years, shame the MP's can't see past their short term budget benefit.

Why not suck it up and pay the tax instead? 20p is obviously enough for you to have a made a conscious decision that you’re going to game the system so the tax has kinda done its job.

How has it kinda done its job if I didn't pay it and I drank the product its introduction was specifically designed to deter?

If we do that where do we talk about how the sugar tax is manifesting at Alton Towers during the 2018 season?
 
Here, that's fine, but from what I can see all of the posts on this page at least have nothing to do with Alton Towers!

I thought PepsiCo drinks had LESS sugar in but added salt to encourage you to drink more?

It's interesting how different companies are handling the sugar tax. Towers now have 2 Coke Zero taps in CCL burger kitchen. Supermarkets are doing the same in Cafes and McDonald's now offer Zero as main soft drink option. Red Coke is now sold in 1.75ltr bottles and 6 pack cans whereas other varieties are sold as 2ltr bottles and 8 pack cans. Before, all varieties of Coke were sold as 1.75ltr bottles and 8 pack cans.

Coke Zero has notably increased in sales on the market since the sugar tax was announced but red and Diet still outsell it. Pepsi Max however has been the best selling Pepsi variety by far for many years now. In this climate, Towers could do with switching supplier to Pepsi in my opinion.
 
We were out in Birmingham yesterday and they were handing out free Coke Zero with a big promotion as to how it tastes the same as coke red.

Marketing will make this tax pointless

I believe it's the other way around. Pepsi has 11g of sugar per 100ml and Coke has 10.6g per 100ml. Coke contains more sodium. This is true of the Coke in the outside world, but also of the Coke being sold at Alton Towers in the 2018 season.

Taken yesterday, any clue why the "show" has been dismantled?
 
As far as I am aware the show was only for the Easter period. One can hope that something similar may return in the summer (not that I saw it, no idea if it was any good or popular).
