In all seriousness, Knightmare would have lower throughput and be both louder and uglier than Spinball.
It's staggering to think that there's such a major coaster just sat there with no-one willing to give it a chance. Apparently the asking price is somewhere around the £1M mark, which seems an absolute bargain for such a big ride, though I don't doubt it needs a huge amount more money spent on it as it's probably in pretty bad condition by now. It could be a great buy for one of the 2nd tier parks in the UK.

I cannot believe that for 1m quid (probably get it a bit cheaper now!) that someone is not grabbing this absolute bargain of a ride!
I know it wont fit, planning blah blah, but it would be a fantastic ride for Chessington! Knock X and the Rainbow Magic Rubber Ring Ride down and stick it there in TP, just someone, please keep this in the UK so I can actually ride it!

It would need a lot of work done to it. A paint job, for a start, rather than rusty bare metal. New trains (I believe it has enough blocks for at least four, if not five?) Plus the cost of dismantling, transporting, and erecting it.
So I would have thought the total cost to have Knightmare in your park would probably be closer to £3m by the end of all that. And that's without building a new mountain round it to bring it back to it's original glory. So I can see why a lot of parks would rather spend the money on a new ride.
However, I would much rather see this wonderful beast saved than some generic wild mouse crap... I'm looking at you Pleasurewood Hills.

I don't really care where it goes, and I doubt any UK park would actually buy it. It's in quite a bad sate, plus half of its supplier no longer exists. While it gave a good ride, I think it's time it went. Though, I wouldn't mind it going to DLP. Disney turn shocking coasters into master pieces, imagine what they would do with Kightmare. Stick it in a warehouse, adds some light up scenery. Bam, new major attraction.

Does anyone think Knightmare will be bought by Gerst, refurbished and painted to be sold to another park a la The Blackhole or is it past being financially viable to do so.

Apparently the houses haven't been built yet due to local opposition, hence why the site hasn't been touched since it closed.

Can't be doing Nightmare any good sitting there doing nothing. I am so surprised no one has bought that coaster.
Unless they aren't selling it until the housing has been approved? They'd be left with just a big patch of derelict land and grass after all. At least with a "signature" ride they could add some filler attractions if they needed to reopen it.

With enough money, and few planning restrictions, anywhere could become a world class park. Unfortunately, with our draconian planning laws, that rules out the entire UK from ever getting a decent park.

I honestly wouldn't mind Merlin buying it and putting some decent rides in there,it's never going to happen in my opinion but it doesn't have any parks apart from southport and pleasure beach around there and I don't like to pay per ride, it's too much and pleasure beach is losing money, Merlin could turn it around and add a screaming swing, relocate Sonic Ripsaw and The Blade there, Mack superSplash. There's a nice little park. Plus it would be another Annual Pass Park. It's only problem would be its location. Maybe re theme it into a park with different land than knightly themed but keep some original themed rides, Southport Style revival anyone? I cn only dream

Pleasure Beach is loosing money? Considering they've written off how many million pounds worth of debt over the past few years I'd don't think income is the issue for them. More having enough to play with on major attractions. Financially they're probably better off now than they were 10 years ago.
I'm in two minds about someone buying the park. In theory it could do great I expect. Its just off a motorway, and being near Manchester I'd have thought it has quite a pull.
However, what future does it have really? The people behind the housing development seem pretty determined to make it happen, and given that many of the parks attractions have been removed now it'll take some considerable investment to get people visiting for something which might not last the next 10 years.
No, as sad as it is I do think that in some ways the park has had its day. Should the housing proposal fall through and be abandoned then there might be scope for something new. But to expect it to open and be an instant hit is rather wishful thinking I believe. Great parks take time to form, and unless you have the instantly recognizable brand with mass appeal (I.E. Disney) it's probably not going to happen.

Jetline at Grona Lund was really, really good, I'd never been on Knightmare so it was the closest I could get! I'm now sad that Knightmare is still sitting there doing nothing. But even though Jetline seemed well-kept and well-oiled, it didn't have that shiny cleanness of the big three manufacturers. It smelled like a garage, and you could feel the heat (trains? track?) as you went round which felt quite alarming at times. It looked like the sort of coaster that could 'go wrong'.
I don't ever see Merlin having anything to do with it, it just doesn't fit in with their current lineup. Which is a shame, because I can't think of many coasters at the Merlin parks that really offer the same experience.
