Food and Beveraaage!

I don't know if this ever made it onto the forum from our FB (which I seriously recommend getting on if you haven't already, then you won't miss out on crucial news like this when I'm too ditzy to post it on the forum as well :p), but as of last weekend Coffee Baaaar in the Farmyard has reopened after pretending not to exist all season.

Other closed food outlets remain closed :)

I dont think the Coffee Baaaar can ever be that popular in the farm, I know there are no other food/drink outlets in the farm but coffee corner is just next to the farm. My guess is the other reason they have opened it for scarefest/fireworks is because that area of the park will be more popular than normal.

I wonder what will happen to these closed food outlets next season. Such as towers family resturant (after midday), coffee baaar and spinball noodles. Will they reopen, get removed completly or changed into something different.

I'd like to see them do a bit of a park-wide review of catering before next season. Hopefully they'll reopen the closed outlets for next year but possibly refocus them to more popular choices of food in order to attract more business.

What with BK leaving the park, now could be a good time to change and improve everything.

One thing that has gone down quite a bit during this year is some of the staff in the Alton food outlets are useless and sometimes pure rude. In my last few visits I have had loads of crap staff in various food outlets.

- Fried chicken co, there must have been about 10 staff behind the counter but only two tills open, the rest of the staff were more interested in chatting to each other than serving the customers. The resturant was also a right mess, yet there were three staff stood near the bins once again chatting and not cleaning up. The guy that did serve me in the end was rude and certainly not helpful. Also on my last two visits I havnt been offered the red button challege.

- Fresh fish and chips, the staff in here are by far the worse on park, I love the food here, but each time I go the staff just let the place down. Again there are usually more staff stood in the kitchen laughing than on a till. I have also had a guy serve me while chatting to the girl next to him. Also with annual pass discount he always puts it through as coupon on the till and not annual pass discount (I still get 20% off, but it will certainly muck up Altons sales reports).

I dont know if these resturants have managers, but if they do ink they need to start visiting their outlets just to see the kind of staff they emply.

However I did have a really good experience in pizza/pasta buffet the other day, all the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful.

On park yesterday and noticed that the courtyard BBQ had it's menu changed. They've taken down the old menu's and replaced them with generic towers signage. I don't tend to eat there often, but they stopped serving lattice fries and replaced them with conventional chips. The only thing I can assume is that due to it being the end of the season, they don't want to order in new stock just for the sake of a week or so, instead they're just using up supplies from elsewhere.

Ah they did that at the end of last season also. It's a shame as it means there is a seriously reduced menu at the end of the season which is a busy time with the fireworks. I can understand why they do it though as they don't want lots of stock left over.

:)

Adding to my moaning post a few days back I have a few issues after Saturday!

Woodcutters:
I was served the wrong burger, but I only noticed after I had eaten most of the chips, I called a guy over who said they cant change it as I had already eaten part of my meal and if I had told them to start with they could have changed it. He then got a superviser who was lovely and got me the correct burger straight away.
My issue is why couldnt the guy in the first place do that? I understand if someone had eaten most of their meal, but when I hadnt even touched the burger! Surely thats some kind of bad training or some really stupid policy!

Wobble World Cafe:
Second issue of the day was with the panini meal deal. The sign said buy any panini/sandwich, crisps and hot/cold drink for £4.75 (I think), I asked for a hot chocolate but was then told this was not part of the deal. The strange thing was the hot chocolate was slightly cheaper than the coffee and slightly more expensive than the tea. Lets hope next season they update their decor as it didnt state any drinks not included.

Other than that I had a good day with food and drink :p

Technically you could have caused a fuss over that as the POS displayed said that the meal deal was with "any hot drink". Now correct me if Im wrong but isn't "hot" chocolate an "hot" drink?

Also I have to correct you there Mike, its pannini remember!!! :p

Not sure if this belongs here or if it needs a separate topic but I'm sure a mod can decide!

It seems to be confirmed that it's going to be a Burger Kitchen next year replacing Burger King:

About the role

In 2013 we will be bringing a new concept to the Resort, the Burger Kitchen! We will be opening the new positions up to all new applicants, however will welcome applications from former Burger King employees.

If you want to join the Alton Towers Resort team for a major new, exciting development - and be involved from the very beginning - then this is the role for you.

Contracts run from March 2013 to November 2013.

Well, I'm certainly quite pleased that BK seems confirmed to be going at last, and its replacement isn't much of a surprise either. Does this mean, however, that we'll only be seeing the Burger Kitchen as a replacement for BK and no added variety? I hope not, but I'm slightly doubtful now. On the other hand, no high-street chain outlets on park can only be a good thing!

YEAH! Burger King was awful, with the worst staff on park, shouting at you for orders (thought it was run by the phalanx) and disgustingly overpriced food, not to mention the taste.

If this follows fried chicken co, we've got another winner!

Another place that can be used for annuel pass discount and if its another fried chicken company it should be a hit :)

-Annual pass discount
-Good quality food- poor food will represent Merlin badly, they always in my eyes at least have good food.
-Hopefully more vegetarian options- or a continuation of the vegetarian burger offerings so far
-Potential for some Cloud Cuckoo theming!

I can't see anything bad about this at all!

The only negative I can see is if all three BK outlets become a burger kitchen. I would much rather see one as a burger kitchen, one as something like a roast and relish and the CCL one as a new buffet restaurant.

Because do they really need three outlets for burger kitchen? If they added other brands which have already been tried and tested at other parks, I don't see why that would be a bad idea.

I suppose, I can see a Burger Grill in Cloud Cuckoo, a Roast and Relish in Mutiny and then either one of the two in the forbidden valley.

Just wish they had a subway!

I would much rather see three different food outlets, but I think they might just replace the valley one with a pasty place like the dark forest has. I just hope we get a roast and relish!
