Moon Voyager rooms and beyond!

The rooms themselves look great, but come on, would you put it past them?

If you can get one that sleeps 6 for £240, that equates to £40pp. For a themed room that is very good, I've paid more for standard rooms including discount in the past!

:)

That was for 3 Adults not 6 :)

Usually additional adults only add on around £10 extra per adult, as they basically charge for breakfast.

As far as I can see there is no reason why these rooms should be more than £20 more expensive than the explorer rooms. They are on.y bringing the rooms upto a modern standard.

They already over-charge in season for hotel rooms so I won't buy that its to pay for the upgrade.

A childrens area, Xbox 360 and £100 bear in each room are going to up the cost

The bear would in my mind help increase the price, the children's area and x-box are well within the in season price of the room.

Those are really decent prices given how much they're offering - would be totally up for a night in one of these once they're open! :D

Why would a £100 bear put up the price?

Over a few months it will all pay for itself easily. I don't think a price should go up just because of that. Nor the Xbox really, just a minor price change will be acceptable enough.

The hotel rooms used to have a bear in them in the 90s too, back when Alton Bear was a popular character. :) Admittedly not a 4ft tall one, however still a large one. I remember they got rid of the bears in the early 00s due to many of them being nicked by guests. At least with a 4ft one guests can't smuggle them home. :p

Get rid of the teddy and I disagree these rooms offer anything other than a refurb and that shouldn't result in a huge price increase.

A room for 6 in Splash peak season is showing as £310 right now, so as far as I'm concerned £240-£265 for a 6 person room is good and in keeping with that pricing!

Also these rooms are surely going to be a treated as a premium product until the rest of the hotel has been renovated similarly, as otherwise guests paying the same amount will get inferior quality to other guests? Pricing could then balance out as these rooms are less of an exclusive.

Alton Towers have today sent us some exciting images showing the concept art for the new Moon Voyager Rooms at the Alton Towers Hotel. This development, which will open later this year, sees the refurbishment of 14 rooms from the current ‘Explorer Room’ style into ‘Sir Algenon’s Voyage to the Moon’. This refurbishment will take the current theme and transform it into something that appears very retro-futuristic and steam-punk in its styling. We’re very excited to bring you the first full concept images of this new development:

This first image shows us a general overview of the rooms’ style and theme. Clearly everything from the current rooms are set to be scrapped or completely refurbished and a new dividing wall has been placed between the double bed and the area where bunk beds would have been before.

Here we see the plans for the refurbished bathrooms – an area of the current rooms which currently let them down. The bathrooms also follow the steam-punk theme and will breathe new life into an area of the hotel which is currently lacking.

This next image shows how the corridor outside should look once the refurbishment is complete. Once again, it is a complete refurbishment from the previous theme, with new carpets and paintwork – as well as brand new doors which look like airlocks. Work on the corridor is already clearly underway, as we have shown on our popular Facebook page.

Finally, we bring you and exciting and exclusive look at the full plans for the new rooms. As you can see, the current layout has been transformed and a dividing wall has been brought in to create a distinctive ‘kids area’ which includes a television as well as a single bed. This is the first time that the single or bunk beds in a room have been separated from the double bed and it will be interesting to see what other treats are hidden there for the resort’s younger visitors. Another point to note is the round object near the centre of the room marked as “Game”. We can only speculate on what this will be, but hopefully it may be some sort of quest or entertainment for children in the same vein as the LEGO treasure hunt that is available at the Legoland Windsor Hotel.

The Moon Voyager rooms are currently available to book at the Alton Towers Hotel and more information can be found on the Alton Towers website. The above images are just concepts and so may not be 100% accurate to the final plans, however they provide the general look and feel of how the rooms will turn out.

En-masse Towers Street booking anybody?!

Seriously, I have so much love for these rooms, mainly for two reasons! Purple <3 and Space Mountain: M2!

I absolutely adore the style of them, it is so Jules Verne-esque, just amazing! This kind of refit is exactly what the hotel needs. The brilliant thing about these rooms is, thanks to the kind of magical/futuristic theme of them, they won't become dated like the current rooms have! It's much the same case with Splash Landings, because of the theme it wont date unlike the generic style of ATH currently!

So fingers crossed, this will spread hotel wide with various different themes and adventures to be had. I can't wait to see it progress, certainly exciting times for the hotels and resort side of the park right now! :D

So it looks like each room will Sleep 4, not 6. Apologies for the false information, its just what the woman in reservations told me ::)

Wow those concepts are amazing. If they turn out anything like that then we are on to a real winner. Great to see that the bathrooms are being themed as well, that's been one of the main criticisms of Towers hotel rooms of late.

:)

Wow these rooms look amazing, really great concept drawings. TST mass booking required :)

A room on 16th March is £400.

Ouch.

Whoa whoa whoaaaaaaa!! That is more than crazy! That is more expensive than the one remaining suite left for 16th March, which is £324 online. I was going to ring up and see how much it could cost to upgrade to one of these new rooms, I'm not going to bother now!

:)

Wow! These concepts look fantastic!

I really hope they turn out like what is shown and we see some actual steampunk detailing as oppose to just vinyls stuck on walls.

But £400 a night in March? Are they serious!? No matter how good the decoration is these are standard sized bedrooms no bigger than those found at Travelodges. I pray the refurbishment does not mean this will be the standard price for all rooms across the hotel.

:)

We also rang to see if we could upgrade but it's double the price and not available whatsoever on the Friday.

Shame.

:(

NB: The rooms are bigger than Travelodge.
