Three were Sharkbait Reef, Thirteen and the Corkscrew deconstruction. Have no idea what the fourth one is though?

P!nk Concert 2010 was the fourth one. They did the timelapse of the stage construction, the concert and the de-rigging of the stage. It was never released online for some reason.

That's what I can't understand about the time-lapses Merlin have done, they never release them in an easy to follow format. With The Swarm it was live for a few months then stopped half way through construction. Several months later they released a Video that followed the tracks construction but ended before the track was even complete. Corkscrews deconstruction is hidden away on Alton’s Website. The one for Sharkbait Reef I can't remember seeing and the one for Thirteen I don't think was ever released?

So I’m not holding up a lot of hope for this camera. It would be great if they did a live cam like some other parks do but given the secret nature of the ride that’s highly unlikely.

Indeed. Agree with you completely.

It's a shame really. They pay all that money out to have these time lapses done and then they never do anything with them. I at least hope they will put it on the SW7 website come next March.

To be fair, if you really wanted you could easily find them on the TLS website: :)

/\ Things are certainly hotting up. Would of thought the crane is for putting up the station framework or as I didn't think they had poured the foundations yet maybe it is to get the pumps over into the hole and for them to allow pouring to start. Anyone on resort today to get a few snaps later on?

The cranes are on site moving the rebar into place around the site. :)

Some of the TowersStreet team are on park today so no doubt we'll have a few pictures later today.

Im still curious about the use of words "World Beating" on their promos. On all previous rides its been "World First" which is quite a bold statement to make. Initially AT started as a World First but now changed it to World beating. I'd like a bit of clarity over "Beating" - do they mean better than anything else in the world, the first of its kind, what? Its a bit vague for me and wonders if infact a park somewhere in the world have infact built a recent ride with the element that AT were planning on classing as a World First..... only to realise now that someone has beaten them to it!

I would love that to be true Gary. It might finally make them give up on this stupid "muzt hav teh wurldz 1zt" rubbish.

Alton Towers marketing is currently a bit confusing. A press release from a few days ago stated the ride as a "World first". They seem to be using both statements right now, which both have different meanings depending how you look at it - so god knows what they are playing at. It's like they can't decide whether they want it to be world beating or a world first. Make your minds up, Alton Towers! :p

Maybe they haven't actually come up with a gimmick to blow millions of pounds on yet and that's why nothing has been built? :p

Remember that Alton are building a Eurofighter. Making it the best Eurofighter on the planet still won't make it the best coaster in the world. It'd have to be pretty spectacular to claim either of those titles though. :p

I doubt it will even be the best Eurofighter in the UK.

From the plans it clearly has the best looking layout of any other euro in the country, :) so on that basis i think it will be the best Eurofighter in the UK ! I understand that wether or not it's any good depends on how it rides, again i think it'll be fantastic. I just have my doubts on what will make this ride World Beating ? Please no gimmicks :(

Maybe they should take a leaf from Liseberg's book, and not go for something that generates headlines for having a gimmick but actually has no staying power, resulting in a headline ride that initially generates high guest figures but then, as people realise it is ultimately not very good and is quickly bettered by coasters around the world that actually thought about the rest of the experience, rather than shoehorning a badly designed section around said gimmick; guest numbers diminish and the attraction becomes completely 'meh', both in experience and in generating revenue.

You only have the tallest, longest, fastest ride for a short while. What we wanted to do was build a new classic.

tl;dr - shoulda built a Mack.

Edit:

The only real example of a coaster in the UK having epicness directly in proportion to ridiculous length is quietly shattering the knees of its next victims in Yorkshire.

This is ULTRA rough...

You can't see it so good but there is a good 15ft hole below nearly the entire station. The track leaves the station at the ground level of construction about 18ft above the bottom of the pit.

It returns in to the station around 18ft above the exit point (34ft from the bottom of the pit).

The part of the station that doesn't have any excavation is the rear part of the building.
