Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2
With regards to BP turning up on site yesterday, here's some images I took:
Gathering for the start of their tour:
The gate is opened to allow them on site [I was told to come back next month by the worker opening the gate]:
Entering the site:
Gathering around a Marmaliser leg:
They were allowed to go up in the cherry picker to take images of The Giggler. Also, in the background you can see that The Flasher sign has been installed:
Poor photo, but you can see The Inoculator sign has also been installed:
And here they are leaving at the end of their tour:
None of them were filming, just taking images.
I have more images I'll upload later, showing two workmen casually carrying the Inoculator sign across the shop roof.

This photo from TST's Facebook shows the vertical lift section making real progress now:

I am not entirely sure any of us who haven't seen this in person will appreciate how that lift will impose upon the area.
Those there today is it as imposing as it appears in the photos?
Looks extremely impressive to me I have to say.

I think the fisheye photo just posted on the Towers Times Facebook page can finally put to bed any comment about The Marmaliser being too small, or not imposing enough, or not standing out against the track.
Looks amazing. Going to be quite an intense chaotic experience down in that pit. Multiple cars flying in every direction, the Marmaliser doing it's thing, crowds milling around. This thing is going to be quite the visual theatre.

I was there yesterday and even the first piece of vertical support that they put up was huge, never mind the fact that they've doubled that height with the second piece today. It'll look massive from the queueline.

Due to the height of the path in relation to the site everything seems smaller in the pics.
Everytime I see it in the metal it really hits home this thing is massive. Bloody massive.

So not the normal box style supports for the vertical lift? Granted it's not finished yet and bits will continue to be added, but it's like they've tried to keep the amount of steelwork higher up to an absolute minimum. Makes it less prominent in views from outside the park perhaps?
Whatever the reason, it looks quite cool IMO.

Evening Peops: Towers Nerd were on spark today. Some construction pics for you to gander.
More theming added to the Smiler. Hmm maybe that construction guy needs to be corrected:
Like this guy who is far happier in his Job, but whats that they are using to stick the ride together with?
Zooming in its.. Bathroom sealant?
Ever wondered what the world looks like through the Smiler Operators glasses? Something like this:
The bases of the legs now all have their names on them:
Want a close up of those logos on the bins and barrels? Well you got one:
Whilst were on closeups. Have any of you noticed that the base of the Marmalisor has a sign on it. Ever wondered what that sign says?
There has been some debate on whether the Car Wash (Tickler) will actually spin. I think I can lay this one to rest:
But lets start a new debate: What are these cables for on the satellite dishes?
So on to the theming of the station. This is how the pipes are added. Lots of measurements and funky clasps.
And a few minutes later, those clasps are filled with this lovely bit of pipe:
So the full pipe work added before it started raining today looks something like this:
The HB Leisure unit is coming along swimmingly:
Whilst looking at the HB Unit we noticed this flying piece of machinery. Very clever:
My usual overview:
Ooo I can look into the shop from here:
Meanwhile, back at the top They are.. WHAT CUTTING INTO THE SUPPORTS?
By the end of the day rain was poring down and the top end looks something like this:
Or this (look how much it was raining):

I think the lift structure only looks thin because, when looking at other Gerstlauer coasters of a similar type, they have more than vertical drops on the other side and therefore need more supports.
Glad to see the lifts finally going in though!

YES! So happy the tickler spins, feeling much more optimistic about the quality of the finish now!
I hope it only turns on as the train approaches and passes. Now that would be cool!
Keep it coming towers! :twirly:

Would love it if the Satellites fed into the Marmalisers Screen. Flipping continuously through news channels with stylised dystopian messages over would be brilliant!

Sorry I keep forgetting that TS uses the old unicode not the new one and always add them using the new variant.Joseph said:Er.. They won't appear dear. I think you need to sort out the links.
EDIT: Thats better constructions picked up a fair bit today. Anticipating the lifts now.
I'm not sure that they actually point towards real satellites. there are two exactly opposite facing and I don't believe there are satellites that are that way geostationary.rightbackgranty said:Would love it if the Satellites fed into the Marmalisers Screen. Duh! Course - you're right.
Just left the wires on the dishes then I assume. Free themeing!
