Crikey, hope it's nothing too serious. :( Don't want to jump to conclusions, but could it be a chemical leak perhaps (hence the fire engines)?

Confirmation from the emergency services,

Emergency services were at Alton Towers this evening after a woman fell at the attraction's water park.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the incident happened at about 5.50pm.

A spokesman said: "A woman slipped in one of the tube water flumes and and became trapped due to a back injury. She was stuck.

"We sent a crew from Sandiford, because they happened to be closest at the time and also the rope rescue team from Stafford. They weren't required.

The air ambulance would be a tactical decision. Nearest major trauma centre is 40mins by road. With a spinal case it would add 20 to 30 mins due to road conditions. Putting the total time on a spinal immobilisation device over one hour, which is outside gold standard of treatment. The air ambulance would of got to the MTC in 10 mins.
