Crikey, hope it's nothing too serious. :( Don't want to jump to conclusions, but could it be a chemical leak perhaps (hence the fire engines)?

I was also wondering why you'd need fire service attendance. Very odd... Hopefully nobody is badly hurt.

Apparently a member of staff got a back injury after slipping in one of the slides and the fire engine was used to give them rope access into the slide to get them

Edit, that's what peeps on Twitter are saying anyway

Could it have been on the Master Blaster slide? Rafts can get stuck and staff have to climb along the trough to get to them.

Im guessing the air ambulance is probably due to Altons remote location and imagine having a back injury in the back of an ambulance (trust me not known for good suspension) bouncing around the lanes.

No doubt they will have used a spinal board too.

The air ambulance would be a tactical decision. Nearest major trauma centre is 40mins by road. With a spinal case it would add 20 to 30 mins due to road conditions. Putting the total time on a spinal immobilisation device over one hour, which is outside gold standard of treatment. The air ambulance would of got to the MTC in 10 mins.

Doubt it. Someone slipped over at a waterpark, waterparks have water, water is slippy. What's to investigate? :p
