I reckon Merlin will do with SW7 with what they did with The SWARM; Finish the actual coaster then add all the themeing at a later date. Remember when The Swarm opened and it didn't have all the themeing it was suppose to? Not to say SW7 won't have any themeing on opening date, but it will have some of it.

Still optimistic about SW7 though and I hope it's a good coaster regardless when it opens!

:)

Theming will be made by a different team in a different department, it'll be made separately then the main construction and the delays from one won't affect the other, they won't benefit from making the theming at a separate date as it won't affect construction.

It will open March 16th the day the park opens, providing there isn't any major set backs, which is possible but i can't see it happening myself. Since when did Alton Towers miss out opening a new worlds first attraction after the start of season ?......Never, and they won't start now :D
Is the 16th of march the official opening date really hope it is :)

Yes but if the ride is delayed, they will want to get as many people getting the ride done and tested instead of having cranes and stuff there lifting theming and stuff into place. Also, if they are still pouring concrete/tarmac down, they cannot go in and start adding theming as they will just be in each others way. So yes the theming might actually be made, its actually putting it in place that might be effected if the ride runs late.

Also if the ride is running late, normally construction costs go up. The park have to save money somewhere and its normally theming that gets cut back.

Bit awkward if they don't get the "spider" in place before opening, although I imagine that being integral to the ride that will be the main piece of theming that will be constructed first.

I have to agree with this, although they did open N:ST when it was just about finished... just... literally.

They're only allowed to build 6 days a week and between certain times, aren't they? It's a condition in passing the planning stage, isn't it?

I thought this also, they aren't allowed to work on Sundays nor past a specific time (7pm?) which makes the possibility that they are behind even worse as they can't compensate.

Nothing has been officially released but it is a date we have heard as opening on the grape vine. Thing is they can change opening anytime up until publishing.

A good rule of thumb though is they normally open 1 week before the start of Easter or the end of March (which ever is earlier). In a SW year they open a week earlier than the rule.

SW7 marketing has stepped up a gear today.

For those on the Alton Towers mailing list an email was sent out today with the 'smile' face at the bottom of the email. Further teasing the Ministry of Joy.

For those who missed the HQ image I posted on the previous page too, here it is again:

For any eagle eyed members too you may have spotted a new Facebook account that has been posting the smile face on various Alton Towers fansite pages on Facebook. The account goes under the name of 'Roe Coaster': www.facebook.com/roe.coaster

I got this general email earlier today from towers (mentioned 25% off park tickets, beach party in November, and pirate weekends) but at the top of the email it had this sneaky image:

Then at the bottom of the email it had another teaser image:

I have to say im really loving this logo and I hope it forms part of the rides logo in March!

My bookmaker shop is now open.

Not being open for the first day of the main season: 250/1
Large central theming object to be missing on opening day: 10/1

^what odds are you having on it having an unthemed tunnel which will be the subject of 10 years of discussion on this forum?

Footers already spotted for Gatekeeper at Cedar Point according to CF, and that is scheduled to open 2 months after SW7. Granted it's a larger project but just shows how much better prepared they are in the US.

I expect it to open with the spider thing.

The other themeing pieces like the tunnels after the batwing, however...

I was just on the scarefest page on Alton Towers website and a full screen sw7 face logo flashed onto screen for a few seconds before going back to the page i was on. They seem to be pushing this teaser image everywhere now, which is great.

You don't have to be on the scarefest page, I just went to the mainsite www.altontowers.com and saw the logo. :D

Also, if you want to see the logo again you'll have to delete the cookie "seenlogo". :)

I just got it too.

It's quite scary now and is getting unnerving. I really, really like where this is going. ;D
